What can I expect during a portrait session? How long do they take?

The average session is about an hour or two. Jessica comes to your home (or we figure out a fun place to meet) and she spends time with you and your children until everyone feels good about the pictures. She tries to keep everything as relaxed and easy as possible, which helps kids (and camera-shy adults!) feel comfortable and happy while having their picture taken – we really want to avoid stiff poses and fake smiles!

What should we wear?

Ultimately, the most important thing is for everyone to be comfortable. For kids, we recommend having one basic outfit (like jeans and a solid colored shirt) and then a more fun outfit with bright colors – bright colors are great on kids! For family photos just make sure everyone looks nice together – you don’t have to match exactly but try to stay in the same color groups.

Where are you located? Where do you travel?

Our studio is located in downtown Sierra Madre (a wonderful little village on Pasadena's eastern border), and happily travel throughout most of Southern California. Sessions done at a home, park, or public location very near to Pasadena are given a local discount, but the rates for sessions throughout the rest of SoCal are always very reasonable.

We also visit New York City and Connecticut several times every year and have many clients in that area - if you are interested in a CT- or NY-area portrait, please give me a call to find out when I will be visiting next!

How long does it take to get my pictures?

In most cases, your pictures will be ready for proofing within a few days of your session. At that time, we'll schedule a time for you to visit the office where we can present them to you and guide you through the process of selecting prints and other products. When it won't be possible to schedule such a proofing session, we can resort to online proofing or at-home proofing with 3.5"x5" proofs for an additional fee.

What age groups do you photograph?

All of them! We love babies and toddlers, but it’s important not to neglect older kids – every year of a child’s growth is amazing.
